Quebec Aboriginal Science and Engineering Association (QASEA)
QASEA a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote sciences and engineering to Aboriginal youth attending school in First Nations and Inuit Communities in Quebec. QASEA achieves its mission through the Indigenous Science Fair Program.
The Quebec Indigenous Science Fair Program includes six activities:
QUEBEC INDIGENOUS SCIENCE FAIR (QISF): This annual event is held in a Québec aboriginal community or an educational institution since 1998.
PARTICIPATION AT THE CANADA WIDE SCIENCE FAIR (CWSF): An annual event organized by Youth Science Canada, up to four high school level winners of the provincial final of the ASF-Quebec can represent the “Quebec Indigenous” region at the CWSF.
PARTICIPATION AT THE MILSET INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FAIR : The International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology (MILSET) is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation, which aims to develop a scientific culture among young people. The MILSET Science fair is held every two years in a different country. An exceptional team at the QISF could have the opportunity to represent Canada.
TEACHERS' WORKSHOP: These Youth Science Canada's Smarter Science workshops train teachers from First Nations and Inuit communities in guiding their students for science fairs.
MENTORSHIP FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS: This mentorship program offered by Réseau Technoscience, is to assist students and the teachers that help them with their scientific projects.
VISITS OF SCIENTISTS IN FIRST NATIONS AND INUIT SCHOOLS: The scientific development prize, given by le réseau de l'Université du Québec (UQ), offers a school that did exceptionnally well at the QISF, A visit from a UQ scientist to their community.
