Arms

Of all the trees in the forest, Wahta' (Sugar Maple) is the leader.  This responsibility was bestowed by the Creator at the beginning of time and we Wendat honor this role year after year.

Wahta' with its medicinal virtues also gives us sweet pleasures via its sap; at the expense of hard work.  For these reasons, the values of work and rigor are undeniably associated with Wahta' as well as the pleasure that comes from a job well done. Like our children, young maples need the protection (shade) of adults to grow.  It grows rapidly upwards in search of light and spreads its foliage like an umbrella to capture as much nutrients as possible.  Protected by others, like a child by adults, the maple can grow in peace, become autonomous, take its place and thus play its role in its environment.

The turtle : symbol of immortality and wisdom, our mother earth who carries the universe (our maple) well rooted.

The maple : representing the school, the protector, the nobility, the uprightness.

The leaves: our children who are represented by a book and a sun.

The four colors representing :

  • the 4 nations (black, yellow, white and red)
  • the 4 directions (east, south, west and north)
  • the 4 elements (fire, water, air and earth)
